Our Founding Story
It started with my mother. A breast cancer diagnosis. Chemo, a mastectomy, and the shoulder surgery that followed — and a search, the kind that never ends, for something that would let her feel like a person through it, not a patient.
She walked in stronger than anyone in the room.
My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. What followed was the whole weight of it: chemotherapy, a mastectomy, the shoulder surgery that came afterward, and months of losing her hair. She went through all of it — and I watched her walk into every single appointment with a quiet strength that no one in that room could match.
Her doctors were exceptional. Her care team gave everything they had. She came through it, and we are grateful for that every single day.
But there was one thing no one could hand us.

The search no one prepares you for.
We were always searching. For something comfortable enough to sleep in after surgery. For something with the right opening so she did not have to ask for help. For something that fit around a port without exposure. For something — anything — that let her look and feel like a person, not a patient.
None of it existed. Or if it did, we could not find it. We searched every option and kept coming up short — too clinical, too exposing, too complicated, too ugly, or simply wrong for what her body needed at that stage.
Being a person is not a luxury. It's the whole point.
Privacy. Independence. Being treated as a person — not a case — through every stage of what your body is going through. None of that is soft or sentimental — it is a set of concrete, solvable problems.
Port access without lifting your top. Drains managed without exposure. Front closures so you can get dressed without asking for help. A shoulder opening that works around post-surgical range of motion. These are design problems with real answers — answers nobody had bothered to build into something you would actually want to wear.
Then my father had a stroke.
Years later, it was déjà vu. My father had a stroke and went on dialysis — and there we were again. The same search, the same empty hands, the same late nights.
This time it was catheter care. Bag covers. The small, personal things nobody stocks, the things patients quietly manage on their own because the medical system does not think of them and the retail world does not either. My father is a strong man. He adapted. But he should not have had to.
And before either of them, my grandmother.
Long before this was a company, my grandmother lived with brain cancer. One of the hardest parts wasn't the treatment — it was the ostomy bag, and how exposed it left her around the people she loved. So we made covers that read as part of her clothes, not a medical device, and adapted what she wore so getting dressed stayed something she did herself. We didn't know it yet, but that was the first Inspired Comforts product — years before it had a name.

Every product we make came from a real patient.
Inspired Comforts is the thing we could never find: clothing — and the small, personal pieces no one else stocks — made for the person, not just the condition. Everything we make started with someone telling us what they wished they had had.
The camisole with a place for the drains. The robe that does not press on the incision. The bag cover that looks like a choice, not a workaround. We took the things patients quietly struggle with and turned each one into a feature.
Why it keeps going.
My mother is the reason this started. My father is the reason it deepened. Every person we help — every family that does not have to spend a single night searching for something that should have existed already — is the reason it keeps going.
Inspired Comforts is not a product company that stumbled into healthcare. We are a family that lived this search twice, and decided to end it for everyone else.

We ended the search for our own family. We're widening the circle as we grow.
